The offline download feature lets you save movies and TV episodes directly to your phone or tablet so you can watch them without an internet connection — perfect for flights, road trips, or anywhere your Wi-Fi is unreliable. This guide covers everything from which plans include downloads to how long your saved content stays available.

Which Plans Include Downloads?

Downloads are available on the Standard and Premium plans. The Basic plan does not include offline downloads.
Download limits apply per profile on your account, not per device. If you have multiple profiles on a Premium plan, each profile gets its own 100-title download allowance.

How to Download a Title

Downloading is available through the mobile app on iOS and Android. Downloads are not available through the web browser or smart TV apps due to digital rights management (DRM) restrictions imposed by content licensors.
1

Open the Mobile App

Launch the app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. Make sure you’re signed in to an account with a Standard or Premium plan that includes downloads.
2

Find the Title You Want to Download

Browse the home screen, use Search, or navigate to a specific genre or collection. Tap any title thumbnail to open its detail page. Not all titles are available for download — this depends on licensing agreements with the studio or distributor.
3

Check for the Download Icon

On the title detail page, look for the Download button — it’s a downward arrow icon, usually located next to the Play button. If the download icon is grayed out or missing, that title is not available for offline viewing in your region. For TV series, a download icon appears next to each individual episode in the episode list.
4

Choose Your Download Quality

Tap the Download button. A quality selector appears with the following options:
  • Standard (480p) — Smallest file size; approximately 0.3–0.5 GB per hour of content
  • Good (720p) — Balanced quality and file size; approximately 1–1.5 GB per hour
  • Best (1080p) — High quality; approximately 2.5–3 GB per hour
  • Ultra (2160p / 4K) — Available on Premium plan only on supported devices; approximately 5–7 GB per hour
Select your preferred quality and tap Download. You can set a default download quality under App Settings → Downloads → Default Download Quality so you don’t have to choose each time.
5

Wait for the Download to Complete

The title appears in your Downloads library (accessible from the bottom navigation bar) with a progress indicator. You can continue browsing or close the app — the download continues in the background. A notification appears when the download finishes. For best results, download over Wi-Fi. Downloading over cellular data is possible but can be restricted in App Settings → Downloads → Download Over Mobile Data (disabled by default to prevent unexpected data charges).
6

Watch Offline

Once the download is complete, open the Downloads section from the bottom navigation bar. Tap the title thumbnail to begin playback. Your device does not need an internet connection to start or continue watching a downloaded title — the video and audio files are stored locally on your device.
When traveling internationally, download your titles before you leave home. Some content may be geo-restricted and unavailable for streaming in certain countries, but content you’ve already downloaded plays without restriction regardless of your location.

Download Expiry and Availability

Downloaded content expires. Most titles are available for 30 days after you download them. Once you start watching a downloaded title, you have 48 hours to finish it before the download expires and is automatically removed from your device. If your subscription lapses or is canceled, all downloads become unplayable immediately. Always check the expiry date shown next to each title in your Downloads library before going offline.
Expiry rules vary by title based on the studio’s licensing terms. Some titles may have a shorter window — as few as 7 days to start watching after downloading, or only 24 hours to finish once you’ve pressed play. The exact deadline is always displayed beneath the title in your Downloads library. To renew an expired download, simply download the title again while connected to the internet (provided your plan still includes downloads).

Where Downloads Are Stored

Downloads are stored in the app’s private storage on your device — they are not accessible as regular video files through your phone’s file manager or photo library. This is a DRM requirement to protect content licensing.

Storage Location by Platform

  • iOS: The app’s sandboxed storage (not visible in the Files app)
  • Android: Internal storage by default; you can change this to a microSD card if your device supports external storage. Go to App Settings → Downloads → Storage Location to switch.

Checking Available Storage

In the app, go to App Settings → Downloads → Storage Used to see how much space your downloads are occupying and your device’s total available storage.
4K downloads can be very large — a feature-length movie at 4K quality may require 10–15 GB of storage. Make sure you have enough free space before starting a 4K download. You’ll be warned if your device is running low on storage before a new download begins.

Managing and Deleting Downloads

Delete a Single Title

  1. Open the Downloads section in the app.
  2. Tap and hold the title you want to remove (iOS) or tap the three-dot menu next to it (Android).
  3. Select Delete Download. The files are removed from your device immediately, and your download slot is freed for a new title.

Delete All Downloads

  1. Go to App Settings → Downloads.
  2. Tap Delete All Downloads.
  3. Confirm when prompted. All downloaded content is removed from the device at once.
If you’re running low on storage, delete lower-quality or already-watched downloads first and re-download them in a smaller file size if needed. You can always re-download any title that is still available in the library.

DRM Restrictions and Limitations

Downloads are protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology — specifically Widevine (Android) and FairPlay (iOS). These restrictions exist because content is licensed from studios and distributors who require copy protection. As a result:
  • Downloads cannot be copied to other devices or computers.
  • Downloads cannot be played in any app other than the official streaming app.
  • Downloads require periodic license renewal — your device must connect to the internet at least once every 30 days to verify your active subscription. If you go offline for more than 30 days, your downloads will require an internet connection to renew before playback resumes.
  • Downloads are non-transferable between profiles on the same account — each profile must download its own copy of a title.
  • If you cancel your subscription, all downloaded content becomes unplayable immediately, even if the files are still stored on your device.
These limitations are industry-standard and apply to all major streaming platforms offering offline downloads.
